About Career Care Institute

Healthcare Education Built Around the Communities We Serve

Since 1998, Career Care Institute has helped students prepare for focused careers in healthcare through hands-on education and support close to home.

Our Story

Rooted in Southern California. Focused on What Comes Next.

CCI began in the Antelope Valley in 1998 with a practical purpose: prepare people for healthcare work through career-focused education.

As the communities around CCI grew, the institution expanded to serve students in Oxnard and Moreno Valley while keeping the experience personal, hands-on, and connected to local healthcare needs.

Our Beginning

From One Small Suite to a Southern California Legacy

Career Care Institute's story starts with Edmund Carrasco Sr., a man who spent his early career close to patients rather than paperwork. For more than 20 years, he worked as a laboratory technician and phlebotomist, including stints at Henry Mayo Hospital and Glendale Adventist Medical Center — hands-on healthcare experience long before he ever thought about running a school.

That changed in 1997, when the Palmdale school where he was teaching Medical Assisting abruptly closed its doors. Rather than start over somewhere else, Mr. Carrasco decided to build something of his own. A year later, Career Care Institute opened in Lancaster — one small rented suite, one program, and one instructor: him. He taught every Medical Assisting class himself that first year.

That same suite has since grown into the fully built-out Lancaster campus CCI calls home today — one stop on a story that now spans three campuses across Southern California.

Education, it turns out, was already in his blood. Across generations, his family has founded public and private schools that still serve their communities today. Mr. Carrasco brought that same tradition — education as a form of service — into healthcare training here in Southern California, and it's shaped CCI's focus on practical preparation and real student opportunity ever since.
